10 Powerful Steps – To Balance & Open Your Heart Chakra

Open Your Heart Chakra

  1. Meditate Regularly: One of the ways to open your heart chakra is to meditate regularly. Keep in the mind the below steps and connect with your heart’s energy during your meditation practice.
    • Sit in a comfortable position either on a chair or on a yoga mat. Make sure your back is straight.
    • Take few deep breaths (at least 5 deep breaths) and completely relax. For a moment let go of your thoughts and outside world.
    • Focus your attention in the middle of your chest, be aware of the space. Visualize a bright ball of green energy sitting at the level of heart chakra. As you inhale and exhale, see the green ball becoming bigger and brighter.
    • Continue paying attention to that space at the center and keep breathing. Your heart might release emotions, memories of the past, wishes, fears, dreams long stored inside. As it does, just pay attention do not indulge into any thoughts or feelings. Simply watch and let it go.
    • After few minutes, focus into feelings of love for yourself and others. See the green ball becoming bigger and engulfing your whole body in a powerful green circle.
    • See the green circle radiating the energy of love to everyone and everything around you. Sit there in meditation and see the feelings of love, kindness, gratitude and compassion coming from you to the entire world around you.
    • Generate the feelings of love, peace and emit these feelings to everyone around you through the green light (visualize this in your mind).
    • Do this meditation for 5 minutes daily in the morning and evening.
  2. Practice Affirmations: You can practice positive affirmations to increase the positive energy associated with the Heart Chakra. This can include notes on the desktop or on the bathroom door. Following affirmations can be used;
    • I am fully open to giving and receiving love.
    • I am creating loving and supporting relationships.
    • It is safe for me to be in a loving relationship.
    • I love myself and others unconditionally.
    • My heart is filled with joy and gratitude.
    • My heart is free from past hurts.
    • I am grateful for all my blessings.
    • I forgive myself and others.
    • I always choose joy.
  3. Make gratitude your attitude: When you tell the universe how much you appreciate something, it will bless you with more good things that will make your life more worthwhile. Take out 5 minutes from your busy schedule, all you need to do is to recollect all the good things that have happened to you till today and silently express your gratitude.
  4. Practice Kindness: Start with yourself, do not be too hard on yourself. Make a habit to send genuine and loving good wishes to yourself and to others around. Most importantly always remember to be kind to people, who don’t deserve your kindness. I know this is difficult however by doing this we only help ourselves.
  5. Learn to forgive: This is a continuation of above point, when you forgive, you are in some sense being kind to yourself. Your heart chakra will always remain blocked if you do not forgive people easily. When you forgive, you release the blockages in your heart chakra. Never cling on to memories (especially if they are bad), find a lesson in your bad past and let go of the hurt so that healing begins.
  6. Focus on giving than receiving: This is by far the fastest way to balance / open the heart chakra. The more you do things or help people without any expectations, the more you will receive from the universe. It is an indisputable law of nature. The joy of giving can only be experienced, it can’t be explained in words. So go ahead and give love to even the most undeserving person and notice the difference you feel.
  7. Get engrossed in activities that make you happy: When you indulge into activities which makes you feel happier or gives you more inner satisfaction, then you will notice a different energy in you. You simply become more alive and inspired. So always choose to spend some time doing things that makes your heart dance.
  8. If you can’t change it, forget it: Why stress about something, you have no control over ? It’s waste of time and energy. Instead, focus on things which are under your control. Practice the art of acceptance, the more you resist things that are not under your control, the more pain you will create for yourself.
  9. Put your feelings into words: There is nothing wrong in being open with your emotions. The more you bottle up your emotions and feelings to yourself, the more blockages you create in your heart chakra. You don’t have to shout from your rooftops, however you can always write them and put your feelings, emotions into words. Don’t hold back anything, just release everything from the heart, as you do this often you will become more at peace with it.
  10. Change your perspective: This simply means shifting your frame of mind from the one that is always focused on the things that you don’t like and to focus on things that you are more grateful. This simple act of writing five things you are grateful for every day will bring balance to your heart chakra.

The heart chakra is the centerpiece of all the seven chakras hence it is all the more important to balance and open the heart chakra. When the heart chakra is open and balanced then you will only experience more joy and love in your life.

  3. Hi Satish,

The first time I heard the term Chakra was when I watch Naruto animation. I then do a little research into it and I came across it is also called Chi in Chinese terms. Not sure If I am correct. Your Meditation and article are helpful to keep someone like me to have a calm and peaceful mind.
    Thanks

    • Hi Jonathan,

Chi is another name for ‘life force’ or ‘invisible energy’ that is often used in China.

A Chakra is an energy center or “vortex” in the body (or more correctly the aura located at different places around the body). So in simple words, a Chakra is like a power station and the Chi is the electricity that runs through the various power stations. I hope you got my point? I am glad you found this post useful ~ Stay Blessed 🙂

  5. Hi Satish,

This is such a great post and I have to say I wish I found it a year or two ago. I was badly in hurt and untrusting. When I finally started dating someone new, it took me the better part of a year to truly let him in. I almost allowed my own internal conflict to ruin a good thing. As they say, “time heals all wounds”, but it sure is a long journey. I think I would have healed more quickly if I found your article earlier! I’m going to bookmark it, because I’m sure I’ll have a relapse! Thanks so much!

What an interesting post. I really enjoyed reading. I now understand why had frictions in my relationship. After reading this post, I feel my Heart Chakra is blocked. I like the fact we can strengthen the Heart Chakra through meditation. “Learning to forgive” is by far the most difficult thing for me, but I shall practice these steps. Thanks for sharing this post.

    • Hi Sue,

I am glad you found this post interesting. I know forgiveness may sound good in theory, in practice forgiveness can sometimes feel impossible. Forgiveness doesn’t mean you are pardoning or excusing the other person’s actions. By forgiving, you are accepting the reality of what happened and finding a way to live in a state of resolution with it. This can be a gradual process—and it doesn’t necessarily have to include the person you are forgiving. Forgiveness isn’t something you do for the person who wronged you; it’s something you do for you ~ Stay Blessed 🙂
