The Empath’s Survival Guide By Judith Orloff – Online Course Review

The Empath’s Survival Guide By Judith Orloff is an 8-Week Online Course that provides life strategies and practices for highly empathic and sensitive people.

The term ’empath’ comes from empathy and is different from sympathy. The word’s empathy and sympathy are often used interchangeably but are not synonyms. When you sympathize, it means “You feel for someone” and when you empathize, it means “You feel with someone”. Read that again and you will get the difference.

Being highly empathic or sensitive is not an illness. It is a type of personality that has a special ability to sense and absorb the feelings of others. This is a unique ability however can create some real challenges. Take this quiz to understand if you are a highly sensitive person:

  • Are your feelings easily hurt?
  • Do you overeat to cope with emotional stress?
  • If your friend is distraught, do you start feeling it too?
  • Have you been labeled as “too emotional” or overly sensitive?
  • Are you afraid of becoming engulfed by intimate relationships?
  • Do your nerves get frayed by noise, smells, or excessive talk?
  • Do you get emotionally drained by crowds & require time alone to revive?
  • Do you prefer taking your own car to places so that you can leave when you please?

If you have responded “yes” to more than four questions then you are an empath (highly sensitive person) who needs to take charge of your emotions instead of getting drowned in them. Once you begin to understand your empathic nature, you can learn to take better care of yourself emotionally.

This online course is a hands-on resource that will help you learn the skills to regulate your sensitive nature so that you stay protected and empowered while meeting the world with an open heart. Before I share the course details with you, let me introduce you to your teacher.

  1. Hi Satish,

After reading your post, I realize I have some of the qualities of an Empath. I found this very interesting as some of these qualities I have tried to deal with over the years with limited success. I am overly sensitive and know it so this information could really help me. You have given me something to think about and the detailed way you have outlined the course has me intrigued and I will check it out.

    • Hi Colin,

I am glad you found this post useful. As humans, we all have magical gifts of empathy, some of us have just forgotten. We can sense a person’s mood non-verbally, for example, because emotions carry energetic vibrations. And for those of us who are highly sensitive, the magic encompasses more than moods. After all, we are all energetic players on this earth plane. We are one. Unity consciousness wins ~ Stay Blessed 🙂

  2. Hi Satish,

Thank you for sharing this empath survival guide. I answered the quiz and I received one yes out of the eight questions. I was borderline on a couple of them, but I feel that I have improved on those as I get older. The sessions that are listed are an interest of mine and I know a few people that can use this course. I will share it with them.

    • Hi Yvonne,

Yes being sensitive person is not bad at all in fact when majority people struggle to put themselves in others’ shoes empaths possess a true superpower. However this power can sometimes backfire because empaths can become overwhelmed easily as they juggle all the emotions they experience — from themselves and others.

This online course provides you strategies and practices which can be used to combat toxic energy of people & separate yourself from the unpleasant emotions of others ~ Stay Blessed 🙂

  4. Hi Satish,

A great article and review, thank you.

I have to admit I don’t really suffer from being over sensitive or having too much empathy, I am more the other way and I don’t have enough empathy. I’d be interested if Dr Judith offers the reverse course.

The course content seems to be very complete and cover the whole range of issues related to empathy and over-sensitive people. I can see it as being a real benefit to some people and for the discounted price, they really do have very little to lose by trying it.

  6. Hi Satish,

Wow — I really needed to read this! Both my husband and I struggle with absorbing other peoples emotions. My husband has autism so it is particularly hard for him. I myself, have gone through a lot in life and it is hard to not feel empathy for other people. We like that we possess a strong sense of empathy, but it can be a curse sometimes too.

This course is definitely worth checking out!
